Stand Up Ashley Spencer!

I'm ashamed to say that this news made my day.

Playbill announced today that Ashley Spencer and Derek Keeling will be taking over for Max Crumm and Laura Osnes in Grease next month.

Love love LOVE this news!

Ashley is currently in Hairspray as Amber. Say what you will about that Grease reality show, at the end of the day it has helped some very talented people get work-- or at least get the auditions they maybe wouldn't have gotten otherwise. Most of the finalists are now working actors, and for that I say "Brava, crappy reality show!"

I digress. I loved Ashley on that show. I think she is very talented and was thrilled when she landed the Hairspray gig, which was a great chance to show everyone that she's a triple threat. Am even more thrilled that it wasn't a one-time thing and she will soon be in Grease. Stand up, Ashley Spencer! Stand up and be a big Broadway star! Are you as bendy as Laura is?

How cool is it that these runners-up (is the plural form of that 'runners up' or 'runner ups'?) are not so bitter about not winning that they are now going into the show?
